Data protection

Your data is yours, and it stays that way.

Campaigns ask us two questions before anything else: is my data safe, and will you share it? Here are the plain answers. Who controls your data, what we do and do not do with it, how we protect it, and the data-protection authority we register with in each country.

We hold your data.
We never trade it.

The same commitments apply to every campaign and party on the platform. We wrote them into our privacy policy, not only this page.

You own your data
The voters, supporters, agents and result forms you collect are yours. You are the data controller. Election Edge is your data processor, and we handle that data only on your instructions.
We never sell it
We never sell, rent or hand your data to advertisers or data brokers. Your data is not a product. It exists to run your campaign and nothing else.
One campaign can never see another's
We isolate every record by campaign at the database level, with row-level security. Another campaign on the platform has no path to your data, by accident or by URL.
We disclose only when you say so, or the law compels it
We share data on your instruction, or where the law requires it, for example a court or an electoral commission under national law. We tell you when that happens.
Sub-processors are few and named
The vendors that help run the service, for hosting, sign-in and email, are a short named list under data-processing agreements. They keep the same commitments. Our privacy policy lists them.
Export or delete on request
You can ask for a machine-readable export of your data, or for its deletion, and we act within 30 days. The one exception is records the law requires us to keep, such as election evidence.

Safe is a property of the system, not a promise.

  • Encrypted in transit and at rest

    TLS 1.3 in transit, AES-256 at rest, and a short-lived private link for every result-form photo.

  • Isolated per campaign

    Row-level security keeps each campaign's data separate from every other tenant on the platform.

  • A record no one can change without a trace

    Every confirmed result goes into an append-only log, SHA-256 hash-chained from end to end.

  • A person checks every number

    An agent enters each result and a reviewer confirms it against the photographed form. No automated guess enters the count.

We built Election Edge for Kenya first, and we expand one country at a time. Before we operate in a new country, we register with its data-protection authority under local law. The rows marked "Planned" are the authorities on that path.

Who holds your data

A real company, a real contact.

Election Edge is operated by Election Edge (3rd Floor, The Promenade, General Mathenge Road, Nairobi). We are the data controller for account, billing, security and platform data. For the campaign data you collect, you are the controller and we are your processor.
